ASTM D3410 Test Fixture
Test apparatus for Standard Test Method for Compressive Properties of Polymer Matrix Composite Materials with Unsupported Gage Section by Shear Loading
- Easy alignment and clamping of the test specimen
- Material: Stainless Steel
This test method must be used to determine the in-plane compression properties of polymer matrix composite materials reinforced with high modulus fibers. The composite material forms are limited to continuous-fibre or discontinuous-fibre reinforced composites for which the elastic properties are especially orthotropic with respect to the test direction. This test procedure introduces the compressive force into the specimen through shear at wedge grip interfaces.
Additional procedures/test methods for determining the compressive properties of resin matrices and composites can be found in the following standards:
• ASTM D 695
• ASTM D5467/ D5467 M
• ASTM D 6641/ S 6641 M
