ASTM D543 Strain Test Jig
These test jigs are used for applying a desired strain amount to test specimens.
According to the specified strain value and sample thickness, the radius of the strain jig is calculated and designed according to the ASTM D 543 test standard.
ASTM D543 Strain Test Procedure
For each condition involving a material, chemical, time, or strain, at least five specimens should be used. In advance of coming into touch with the chemical reagent, specimens can be weighed and measured. Strain jigs made for ASTM izod bars or ASTM Type I tensile bars are used to replicate end use stress in the test samples. The test sample's exposure to the chemical agent could be through immersion, wiping, spraying, or using soaked gauze, depending on the type of contact that is anticipated. Next, a container containing the test samples is sealed, and it is either heated in an oven or allowed to sit at room temperature. The specimens are taken out after the predetermined amount of time and tested for the required characteristics, such as changes in weight, appearance, or tensile properties in comparison to controls.
