Principle of Use:
ASTM D6241 outlines the method for measuring the penetration resistance of geotextiles and similar products. This involves quantifying the force created when a pointed pressure die is forced through the test sample. The specimen is secured by clamping it between two steel rings using a hydraulic end clamp. Typically, the test is conducted on dry specimens that have been conditioned under specific climate conditions. This procedure is generally applicable to a wide range of products, except for materials containing openings larger than 10 mm.
