Destructive Tests on welds in Metallic Materials - Bend
This test is applied to detect defects in welded joints and evaluate their ductility.
It is performed on butt welds, coated butt welds, and uncoated surfaces. Alternative testing methods have also been determined for materials with different mechanical properties.
The welded sample is bent in one direction to cause plastic deformation. Defects appear on the surface under tensile stress, and the strength of the weld area is assessed.
